I arrived around noon, and since it was before check-in time, I decided to store my luggage in the free self-locker. I relaxed at the OMO base and checked out the neighborhood map for interesting spots before heading out! After some delay, I checked in. I received information about various amenities and recommended to view Kumamoto Castle from the terrace. After placing my luggage in the room and becoming unencumbered, I first went to the terrace. It was cold that day, so I warmed up in the kotatsu at the terrace seats before enjoying the view of Kumamoto Castle. Once back in my room, I warmed up my body and had some evening drinks. And then, I ended up dozing off... I warmed up again after waking up! The next morning, I enjoyed the view from the terrace for a bit and checked out. I was quite busy and couldn't stay as long as I wanted, but I plan to come back to Kumamoto in the summer for a redo!!! Finally, I think some may be curious about the height of the loft room, so I want to leave some notes. I am about 154cm tall. I did not hit my head on the lower bunk. In the morning, for some reason when I was getting out of bed, I raised my head and bumped it (laughs). There is a slight protrusion on the lower bunk's framework, but at my height, I had about two fingers of room (see photo). Since it was a solo trip, I had no one else's opinions. I thought about considering someone's height if I invite someone on my next visit.

My stay at Omo5 Kumamoto was not just about lodging; it was an experience that served as a base to enjoy the entire city! Upon checking in, I was immediately taken aback by the design of the building. The art and decorations sprinkled throughout reflect the essence of Kumamoto 👀. From the café terrace, I could overlook Kumamoto Castle and the cityscape; there was even a kotatsu seat, making it a cozy place to relax! Entering the room, the pink and cute decor excited me!! I felt the beginning of my journey in the yager room that felt like a secret base, and it filled me with anticipation! I also participated in the hotel activity "Castle Town Saruku." Guided by a Kumamoto-loving OMO ranger, I explored the surroundings 👣. Experiencing the history of Kumamoto Castle while visiting hidden gems is something that you can only experience by joining Saruku! In the evening, I also took part in an activity where I could taste cocktails in the café lounge and receive recommendations for bars! It seems that there are over 100 bars densely packed around the hotel, and the staff kindly proposed recommendations to ensure I could enjoy myself, even though I usually don't go to bars. They were also supportive when it came to choosing restaurants for dinner, making me feel like I had a partner for my city walk ✨. My stay at Omo5 Kumamoto was truly enjoyable, only possible by stepping outside the hotel. Thanks to the staff who deepened my love for Kumamoto, I became a big fan of the city! I will definitely go back!

In front of me was a busy main street with streetcars🚃 running! It was a busy day because of a Kumamon event🌸 coinciding with the weekend, creating a lively atmosphere✨. The location offers a view of Kumamoto Castle🏯 in the background. It was quite a unique and strange sensation to see a castle in the midst of commercial buildings in the city〰️🌀. Room🛏️ I stayed in a Yagura room. My child was delighted with the two-tiered bunk bed and the snug, secret base-like space. It was a wonderfully comfortable space without feeling cramped. The area was efficiently used, and I found myself wanting to get ideas for home building from it☺️. The sofa space under the bed was a bit low, requiring adults to crouch (if you’re taller than 160 cm, you’d definitely hit your head), which might be a challenge for taller guests…? Parking🅿️ The transport means for this trip was a car🚗 £=3. Since I couldn’t take the car right up to the hotel, I parked it at a nearby coin parking lot. Even though it was nearby, it was about a 5-minute walk. I regretted not bringing a suitcase instead of my hand luggage🧳 and thought it was a bit of a hassle…😩. Plus, since it was raining☔, I tried to stay dry by going through arcades and buildings, but I still needed an umbrella at times. The parking fee has a discount service of 1100 yen/night until the checkout at 11:00🕚, but there were additional charges for shopping nearby after checkout if it went past 11:00. The payment at the coin parking was cashless💸, which was a relief!!! Dining🍙 Thanks to the great location, I could stop by nearby shopping facilities🛍️ and enjoy delicious take-out food 🍱🍴 bought from the underground shopping area for dinner, allowing me to spend time leisurely in the room without being rushed. Cafe☕️ In the evening, I went to the cafe on the front floor looking for gelato! I could choose 2 types of toppings for my base ice cream and was excited about the combination choices🩷🩷🩷. This time, I opted for toppings featuring local snacks, but with so many topping options available, I want to try other toppings too!

I traveled to Kumamoto. I stayed here before and liked it, so I repeated the visit. After taking the city tram from Kumamoto Station and getting off at Toricho-machi, it's a one-minute walk. The location is right in the heart of Kumamoto's nightlife. The coin lockers available even after checkout are convenient. It's helpful to leave large luggage and go sightseeing in Kumamoto. I would like to use this again when I go to Kumamoto.

It’s definitely a strange OMO

I have stayed at Hoshino Resorts many times across the country, but there is something strange about this hotel. The entire room is like a bunk bed without changing the height of the room space. The height of the space is only 160 cm, and I hit my head many times! The pins for hanging pants are wider than the width of the pants, so they cannot be hung. Various amenities are propped up against the wall, and you have to walk around the room. What should I do if I can't get up to the upper bed? They told me to sleep on the sofa below. I chose this place just for the access in front of the bus stop from the airport and the view from the terrace.

Kumamoto's bustling downtown area, right in front of Tsuchōmachi Station, is conveniently accessible from both Kumamoto Station and Kumamoto Airport. The shopping street has a roofed arcade, providing convenience even in rainy weather. The rooms have a unique yagura design that makes good use of limited space. Although the bed is located at the top of the yagura, the sofa space below is also comfortable for relaxing. Families with small children will find it especially exciting, filled with the feeling of a secret base. The café terrace overlooking Kumamoto Castle is also recommended.

After a business trip to Kumamoto, I booked a stay for personal reasons with a company senior and we stayed together! Considering the skyrocketing hotel prices, this price was appreciated! We moved from the company outside the city to the hotel by bus, and the bus stop was conveniently close. We relaxed on the sofa in the room and later slept in the loft. While it wasn't spacious, I slept soundly. The separate bath and toilet were also essential points for two people staying together!

This time we stayed with two adults. The front desk has a stylish atmosphere, and upon entering the room we found a thrilling bunk bed! You can use the sofa, and you can sleep on any floor, whether it’s the upper or lower level of the room, which made it fun to explore. It was a nice point that there are plenty of outlets and USB charging ports. This is great for larger groups. There were also many cups available, which was appreciated. I think it's perfect for families of 3-4 people with children. I was happy to find a Salonia hairdryer in the room. Sleepwear is rental, so if you have preferences for loungewear or pajamas, it's best to bring your own.

I stayed at OMO in Osaka, Sapporo, Okinawa, and this time in Kumamoto. This is my second stay in a yagura room, following Okinawa. The room is small but has a bunk bed, so it doesn't feel cramped. The bunk beds made the kids very happy. The wall shelf is easy to use and store things on. The room's bath also had a washing area, making it easy to bathe with the kids. I recommend having breakfast on the terrace while looking at Kumamoto Castle. It was delicious.

I stayed in November 2024. This was my second trip to Kumamoto in two years. There are three recommended points. ① OMO Café Terrace with a view of Kumamoto Castle ② Activities ③ Transportation convenience ① OMO Café Terrace with a view of Kumamoto Castle On the third floor, there is an OMO Café and terrace. From the terrace, you can see the main keep of Kumamoto Castle and the large ginkgo tree. It's great to enjoy the changing views of Kumamoto Castle at different times of the day. In winter, there are kotatsu seats available for hotel guests only. The downside is that you can't see Kumamoto Castle from the kotatsu seats (^^; But for those who want to relax and chat or drink while enjoying the kotatsu, it’s a good option. *OMO Café is also open to non-staying guests, so it gets crowded at night. ② Activities There are activities available for hotel guests only and those open to anyone, but the "Jokamachi Saruku" and "Kumamoto Castle Stories" are particularly recommended. "Jokamachi Saruku" requires a reservation. You can stroll around the castle town of Kumamoto while learning about its history and recommended shops. While children might get bored, many adults will find it interesting. They introduce some power spots that are not well known. "Kumamoto Castle Stories" is open to everyone. It introduces Kumamoto Castle and Kato Kiyomasa in a quiz format. I realized some interesting facts I wouldn't have noticed without hearing this story about photos I took casually. Please participate and find out those "actually..." facts. ③ Transportation convenience The hotel is almost directly in front of the "Tsuromachi-suji" stop when you take the highway limousine bus from Kumamoto Airport. I think it's a convenient location for those with a lot or heavy luggage. The tram is also right in front of the "Tsuromachi-suji" station. It's easy to get to "Suizenji Jojuen", "Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens", and "Kumamoto Station". The bus terminal is also nearby, making it an ideal base for sightseeing routes. It was a fun two-day trip (^^) Next time, I plan to stay while visiting the ONE PIECE character statues!

The base for my Kumamoto sightseeing was the "OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts," which I had been curious about for a while. It was one of my favorites in the OMO series! Sitting at the terrace seat in the café lounge, I had a magnificent view of Kumamoto Castle right in front of me. My room was a "Yagura Room," cleverly utilizing the limited space, making it feel like a secret base. It was fabulous to relax on the sofa, and the OMO cushions and goods in the room were cute, bringing a warm feeling just by looking at them. This time I also participated in the walking tour guided by the OMO Ranger, exploring the surrounding Kamitori area. I enjoyed a delightful time walking while eating the recommended Hachiraku Manju, and even took takeout from a famous cake shop in Kumamoto called "SWISS." In the evening, I went to the café lounge in the hotel. I enjoyed cocktail tastings and listened to piano performances. On a cold winter night, the kotatsu seats set up in the terrace area provided warmth and were simply the best. The next morning, I attended a lecture event to learn about the history of Kumamoto Castle. The quiz format made it fun while also educational, and visiting Kumamoto Castle afterward would surely deepen my impression! The hotel had plentiful activities, and I was highly satisfied, feeling it was worth more than the price. Next time I visit Kumamoto, I definitely want to repeat this experience.

I stayed at many OMOs through HafH, and this location is the best in my opinion. It's right in the center, there are restaurants and shops under the building, you can see Kumamoto Castle and the tram, and the terrace is lovely, highly recommended! ⭐︎

Respecting Kumamoto Castle and Kiyomasa Kato

The county-operated parking lot is the closest (14:00 to 11:00 next day, 1100 yen) (after 11:00, it's 1000 yen for 12 hours). Since it's right in the middle of Kumamoto's bustling district, there are plenty of dining options. Personally, I think the 'Koran-tei' with its Taipi-en is a must. The café inside focuses on drinks and desserts. The cocktail from the Kiyomasa-san cheers set (2000 yen) impressively matched celery, yuzu, and Kumamoto shochu, which surprised me. Breakfast is available for 1250 yen without reservation. You can enjoy it on a lovely terrace overlooking Kumamoto Castle. If you are staying for multiple nights, I would also like to try the breakfast buffet (3400 yen) at Hotel Nikko across the street. Since it's OMO, I fully enjoyed the activities as well. At 'Joko Machi Saruku' starting at 15:30, I was guided through the Joto street and an alley. Local stories are indeed wonderful.

I strongly recommend staying at "Omo 5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts" if you ever visit Kumamoto. 🏠Room ・I used the room alone this time, but it felt like it was such a waste to use it solo because it was so relaxing. The design is such that even as an adult, it provided a sense of excitement, and if you stay with children, I’m sure they would be thrilled. Just keep in mind that the bunk bed-style setup may cause you to bump your head when going to where the bedding is. 🍚Food ・At "OMO Cafe & Bar" for breakfast, I had a white stew cube toast, and for a late-night snack, I enjoyed dessert cake. The stew tasted well-balanced, and the vegetables were cooked through, making it easy to eat. The combination of the toast and stew was excellent, making me want to eat it again. The cake was sweet but not too much, making it easy to finish. 🏢Facilities ・The hotel offers a stylish space and has a cafe as well. In the evening, you can enjoy a chill experience while listening to jazz music (it might be just this time?). Also, from the cafe terrace, you can see Kumamoto Castle. ・There's a huge map of Kumamoto city at the entrance, making it easy to plan where to go. ・There is a coin laundry in the corner on the entrance floor that accommodates both cash and cashless payments. 🚃Access ・I took a city-bound bus from Kumamoto Airport and got off at Tsukimachi, arriving at the hotel in about 2 minutes on foot. The access is excellent as you can easily reach Kumamoto Castle and shopping streets.

A surprisingly great location with the privilege of overlooking the main street. You can just barely see Kumamoto Castle from the window. Unfortunately, it was rainy, but the room, which is slightly elevated and has tatami mat flooring with a mattress, was very comfortable. There’s also a chair and table, making it easy to work. Unlike the usual, the staff were friendly and kindly explained how to do the auto check-in and cashless payments. I would recommend this not only for young people but also for families.

This time, I fully participated in the trip organized by the OMO staff. I enjoyed Kumamoto sightseeing and hotel stay by taking part in all events at the OMO5 hotel! There were many overseas visitors, giving it a lively atmosphere. The breakfast at OMO Cafe&Bar was delicious. From the uneven terrace, I could see Kumamoto Castle, and while enjoying local beer, I toasted to the castle looking at the keep I climbed during the day 🍻. The night illumination was beautiful too. At the tourist facilities introduced to me, I received a gift at the reception by saying 'It's an introduction from OMO.' The event 'What is Kumamon?!' When you think of Kumamoto, you think of 'Kumamon'. At OMO5 Kumamoto, you can definitely meet 'Kumamon'! Isn’t it amazing that fans gather too? Playful 'Kumamon' shows a fun performance♪ On that day, 'Kumamon' was active at the Kansai Expo event in Osaka during the day, and in the evening, he provided a grand service at OMO5 Kumamoto! He worked hard.

I stayed overnight to attend a concert! I was in a room called 'Yagura Room' that can accommodate many people, designed like a loft. My excitement soared↑↑ It was spacious enough for three adults! Just as I checked in, Kumamon came to visit📸📸!! As a big fan of alcohol, I headed to an izakaya early🍺 They had recommendations for restaurants at the front desk, and it was really good to check that before going out!! I quickly decided on a place by researching on my smartphone!! Such a convenient location!! Lastly, I went to the terrace that I absolutely wanted to visit (≧∀≦) I enjoyed my fourth gathering with dessert and drinks I purchased, while relaxing on a large sofa!🥂

This lodge offers a panoramic view of Kumamoto Castle from the terrace. It's located in a commercial facility, so if you're really tired or the weather is bad, you can still have your meals inside the building. During Golden Week, the restaurant I wanted to visit was fully booked, so I bought horse sashimi and fresh sashimi from the department store next door and got cake from the shopping street to have a restaurant experience in my room. Also, it seems there are over 100 bars in Kumamoto’s downtown area, and the ranger recommends local bars. There's even a tasting for one type of cocktail, so be sure to try it before going out.

Although I arrived late at Kumamoto Airport, the location is very convenient as it's close to the limousine bus stop. Since it’s located in a corner of the arcade street, there are shops open late, allowing me to enjoy the flavors of Kumamoto right away. From the terrace, you can see Kumamoto Castle and feel the vibrancy of the city, making it a wonderful breakfast experience!

Being located in the town is a significant point as it offers a very convenient location. There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel, allowing you to explore food options from this base. At night, the terrace is filled with light, and enjoying local craft beer while gazing at the illuminated Kumamoto Castle was the best experience. Additionally, I received recommendations for many bars within a 7-minute walking radius. As I was there for a workcation, I enjoyed craft beer and had meals at recommended places nearby, making it an amazing trip.

The appearance is really beautiful! It has a hidden gem vibe even though it is in the bustling downtown area. The 'Dokkoboko Terrace' is a must-see, providing a perfect spot to relax while overlooking Kumamoto Castle. At night, the illuminated Kumamoto Castle looks romantic. OMO Kumamoto is located near the shopping district close to Kumamoto Castle. If you go by car, you can park in nearby parking lots and walk a few minutes, but it can be a bit inconvenient if you have a lot of luggage. Enter through the beautifully designed main entrance and take the elevator to the third floor Front Desk. The room was a Yagura room, and the kids were thrilled. You can book for four people, making it a good deal for families. At night, head to Kumamoto Yatai Village across the road. It was a great trip.

My sons love the yagura room! The room is small, but OMO really knows how to create a great space for family time✨ At night, we relaxed on the deck sofa and gazed at Kumamoto Castle, enjoying a leisurely time 🤗

The atmosphere at the cafe and terrace on the front floor was delightful for a leisurely stay. We were able to freely borrow books, so reading on the terrace or taking them to the room for a relaxed read is recommended. The juices available at the cafe are a bit pricey, but they come in cute bottles and include delicious apple juice made from safe ingredients. I believe anyone can relax here, not just guests. The space in the raised-type rooms is cleverly designed to evoke a sense of wonder in children. The rooms are clean, quiet, and perfect for a relaxing stay.

Even though it was during the rainy season, the hotel was located right in front of an arcade street, making it very convenient for meals! The room was a yagura room, which was exciting for my daughter. 😊 We stayed for two nights, but she said she didn’t want to go home.

In the 'Kataranne! Kumamoto Castle Story' activity, we enjoyed quizzes and learned about Kato Kiyomasa, who is beloved by the people of Kumamoto. The 'Joka-machi Saruku' activity, where friendly staff introduced the streets of Kumamoto, was a lot of fun. The luggage storage lockers were also easy to use and convenient!

The terrace, which is accessible only to guests after 11 PM, was great! Drinking alcohol while viewing Kumamoto Castle from the terrace was the best. ✨ There is a sale of craft beer and cider within OMO, and I told the staff my preferences for alcohol, and they helped me choose.
