Enjoy Authentic Freshly Brewed Matcha at the Hotel

As a base for sightseeing in Tokyo, I stayed at Hotel 1899 Tokyo this time. This hotel is a little special as it blends Japan's tea culture with hotel hospitality. During check-in, there was a service that allowed me to taste matcha, sencha, and Japanese black tea, all brewed carefully by the staff right in front of me. It was a valuable experience to see them froth the matcha with a tea whisk while being precise about the water temperature. Each tea was rich in aroma, and with every sip, it felt like my heart was being unraveled. I highly recommend trying all three types! Additionally, there's a specialty Japanese tea café called "CHAYA 1899 TOKYO" on the first floor, offering carefully selected teas from across the country, as well as bread and sweets made with tea. I didn’t get to stop by this time, but I’ll save it for my next visit. The room was a calm space with modern Japanese design, feeling comfortable with the warmth of wood. It was spacious enough to enjoy a relaxing sense of travel while being in the city. It took about 10 minutes on foot from JR and Tokyo Metro Ginza Line "Shimbashi" station, providing good access for sightseeing. I look forward to visiting again next time, particularly to enjoy some Japanese tea sweets! 🍵

Enjoying Tea in a Hotel Retreat!

I walked from Shimbashi Station to the hotel. Along the way, there are shrines and parks, and plenty of restaurants and convenience stores to fill my stomach before heading to the hotel. There was a lovely fragrance at the entrance! Incense was burning, creating a soothing Japanese atmosphere. The first floor has a cafe, while the second has the check-in counter and a counter where you can enjoy tea. Souvenirs are also available for purchase. I was served matcha right in front of me, which I enjoyed with wasanbon sugar! From 3 PM to 10 PM, in addition to matcha, I could also enjoy warm green tea and seasonal teas! The next morning, I could order matcha again. I didn't even have to go to a cafe—I could enjoy everything within the hotel, making it perfect for a weekend staycation! The amenities were of high quality, and the toothbrush was easy to use, with everything leaving my skin and hair feeling moisturized, which made me very happy. The slippers were fluffy, and the tea-themed items were so cute that I wanted to get them all. I would love to stay here again!

The staff at the front desk are very welcoming. The front desk and tea counter are integrated, where you can enjoy tea and blended teas. The rooms are clean, and the lamp shaped like a tea whisk was cute, and even the bath products were all tea-themed, showcasing a great attention to detail.

I planned to stay cooped up in the hotel, and it was just perfect. They served me matcha at the front desk and I enjoyed various kinds of tea. Of course, there was tea prepared in my room as well, allowing me to relax while sipping tea leisurely. The amenities also had a green tea fragrance.
