The Beb5 has a casual feel, reminiscent of a bar or izakaya. Guests can bring their own drinks to enjoy in the 24-hour cafe/lounge, and check out is “around noon”, so you don’t have to worry the following morning!

Guests can enjoy natural flowing hot springs at the nearby Tonbo-No-Yu, and can also take their pick of cuisine at the Hanurire Terrace which is also close by. This is a great property for both workations and for a refreshing getaway.

Mastering All BEB5 at HafH

During the tourist season, reservations can be hard to come by, but despite it being summer vacation, I managed to find a last-minute opening and hurried to Karuizawa. Having already visited other BEB5 locations in Tsuchiura and Okinawa, I was able to master all three BEB5 facilities in this Karuizawa! Like the other two facilities, it excels in balancing exceptional service while eliminating the stiffness typical of many hotels, making it an incredibly comfortable place to stay. If more BEB5 locations pop up anywhere, I will definitely go visit them!☆

Stayed in April, 2024

We stayed with my husband and our 6 and 4-year-old children. The kids were thrilled with the unique yagura room, climbing up and down the stairs. As a worrywart, I was concerned that the kids might fall from the yagura at night when they were sleepy... haha. We slept in the space below with my mother and the two kids, but of course, it was quite cramped. If there are two people up and two down, I think it would be comfortably cozy. Having a separate bathroom and toilet is also a blessing for families with children. For dinner, we bought our favorite side dishes from Tsuruya, a local supermarket in Nagano Prefecture, and had a side dish party in our room⭐︎ There were also people in the shared space enjoying takeout meals. At night, the courtyard was beautifully illuminated, creating a delightful atmosphere.

Casual Family Stay in Karuizawa

Stayed in September, 2023

We traveled with two adults and one 2-year-old child who slept with us. The room had tatami mats and was a relaxing space where we could take off our shoes. The furniture was also rounded at the edges, making it a safe stay for small children. The room was small, and with just a round side table, it was difficult to have meals in the room. We had meals in the shared area where there were many tables and chairs, including high chairs for children. There weren’t many staff members, and it was hard to find someone when we had questions.

Winter in Karuizawa

Stayed in February, 2024

We had our first stay at the dream Hoshino Resort! We stayed as a couple with our three children under 2 years old. After checking in, there was a welcome popcorn station where our children were overjoyed. They could choose from several flavors, which we adults also enjoyed. The room wasn’t that spacious, but it was the type where you take off your shoes to enter, so it was very good for our little ones to move around freely. The lobby was very spacious, with a dining area and comfortable sofas where we could relax freely. On the second morning, we got breakfast at a convenience store nearby and had it in the lobby. There were kids' chairs available, so our children could sit there to eat. You could go from the lobby to the courtyard, where there were heated tables and a fire pit, allowing us to relax outdoors even in the cold. Our child enjoyed swinging on a swing with a kotatsu (first time seeing one, haha). There was a shuttle bus available, so we could go to Harunire Terrace and Tombo no Yu without walking, which was very convenient. When we used it, there were only usually two groups on the bus, so we could board on time without waiting. Next time, I want to visit Karuizawa in summer.

A Relaxing Space

The first floor had popcorn and a mini café, which was great. The playroom was a joy for the kids. I found it easy to work leisurely on the first floor at night, and the outdoor firepit was lovely.
