Located right next to the road station for Tea of Kyoto Minamiyamashiro is "Fairfield by Marriott Kyoto Minamiyamashiro." The tea-famous Minamiyamashiro Village has lush green tea fields stretching everywhere, just a short drive away. The spacious rooms are clean and comfortable, with outlets around the sofa area, and high-speed Wi-Fi that makes work in the room a breeze. On the first floor, a lounge and a work space with outlets at every seat are available—it's a great spot to work or simply relax. It's wonderful to have such space outside the room to unwind! In the lounge, free drinks such as coffee and tea are available, and I was delighted to find tea produced in Minamiyamashiro. At the road station next to the hotel, souvenirs like pound cake and pudding made with tea were lined up, but the soft-serve ice cream (and parfait) made with local tea was exceptional and a must-try!

The facility was the same as the last time I used it, the interior was the same, and the staff were very kind and good. When I was baking and eating bread, they offered me aluminum foil, and I was impressed by the staff's small acts of thoughtfulness.

I stayed at the 'Roadside Station Project' this time. It was my first time staying at Fairfield, and I was surprised by how comfortable the Simmons bed was! I could stretch out and sleep well on my own. The size of the room was just right; it was spacious enough for one person. What I rated highly was that the tea in the shared pantry was not from a manufacturer, but 'Muracha' from Nanzan Castle. It was delicious, and I ended up having several cups.

During my stay, I used Fairfield by Marriott Kyoto Minami Yamashiro as a base for sightseeing in Kyoto. It was a lovely hotel where I could enjoy a comfortable stay in a quiet and nature-rich environment. One thing I was particularly happy about was the free drinks in the lounge. Beyond the usual coffee, tea, and miso soup, I was thrilled to find that I could enjoy locally sourced green tea and hojicha, making it a unique experience exclusive to this hotel. Taking a moment to relax with a fragrant tea really healed my travel fatigue. The guest rooms were impressive with their Marriott-like luxury and simple design, as well as exceptional cleanliness. The thoughtful amenities like water and tea made me feel the hotel's care for its guests. Furthermore, I was lucky to stay in a room with a view of the tea fields, and I couldn't help but be enchanted by the green scenery unfolding outside the window. In the hotel lounge, local crafts and stylish interiors were beautifully arranged, and there were also books available for learning about history and culture. With the Wi-Fi and power outlets readily available, remote work while traveling was comfortable. Whether to relax on the sofa or concentrate on work at the desk, the space catered to both needs. Another feature of this hotel is its proximity to the roadside station Minami Yamashiro Village. Here, I could enjoy local specialties and gourmet foods, especially the rich flavors of pudding and matcha soft serve made with tea. The quality of the tea really brings out such deep flavors. For lunch, I enjoyed tea soba and tempura made with tea powder. The savory and luxurious flavors filled my mouth, providing a truly satisfying moment for both my heart and stomach. During my stay, I was able to experience the beautiful nature of Kyoto and the local charm, spending special moments. Next time, I would love to enjoy a relaxing trip at this hotel again!

Three Generations of Momiji Trip

At Fairfield, one child can stay free per adult, so I invited my mother and stayed together as three generations. During check-in, I was provided with detailed information about nearby facilities (such as the adjacent roadside station and nearby hot springs), which I could incorporate into our travel itinerary. The roadside station was open until 6 PM, so we had the recommended breakfast, which was a very gentle and delicious tea porridge set. I tried a soy nanban for the first time, and my mother loved it, but unfortunately, it was not available at the roadside station. The front desk staff always welcomed us with pleasant smiles and kindly asked, 'Is there anything I can help you with?' since we had children, making our stay even more enjoyable until the end. The photos in the lobby and the seating and book selections were all tastefully done, and while it felt a bit cramped, it was a comfortable place to be. Right in front of us, tea fields were spreading out, and there were small New Year's cherry blossoms blooming on the premises.

It was my first stay at Fairfield by Marriott. It was simple yet comfortable, allowing me to relax thoroughly. ▼Room The room was simple but warm with wooden accents, which made it feel spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable with memory foam. There was no workspace desk, so for those looking to work, the lounge would be a better option. ▼Lounge The lounge isn't very large, but it's a cozy place with three floors and about 30 rooms, so it wasn't crowded and was comfortable to use. The lounge offers sencha and hojicha from Nanzan Castle, which you can freely drink. Even though it’s in tea bags, the flavor is quite authentic, which shows it's a town of tea. The miso soup was also delicious, not at all like instant soup! ▼Amenities There are no skincare products like lotion provided, so bring your own. Just so you know, the in-room shampoo and conditioner smell nice but can be quite harsh on the hair. You might want to bring your shampoo as well if you're concerned. ▼▼Access I used public transportation to get there. The nearest station, Tsukigaseguchi Station, is close enough that you can see the Marriott, but the route is winding, so it takes about a 10-minute walk. The train I took from Kamo Station was quite charming.

Since I'm collecting stamps for the Road Station Quest, I headed to Kyoto Minami Yamashiro, which I had been interested in! The hotel room was clean and beautifully maintained, and being able to enjoy the sencha and hojicha made in Nannanzan in the lounge is another charm.

[Repeat Visit] Exquisite Tea Sweets Again

This is my second stay at HafH. Since it's in the production area of Uji tea, there are many tea-infused foods sold at the neighboring roadside station, and they are all exquisite. I wanted to eat them again, so I came back. Fairfield offers free parking, and recently it has become my go-to accommodation when traveling by car. It's also great that coffee, tea, and instant miso soup are available for free at any time. Here in "Minamiyamashiro," unlike other Fairfields, they have tea bags of green tea and hojicha from Nanyamashiro. This tea is very delicious, and I enjoyed drinking it many times during my stay. The coin laundry is operated by downloading an app. You can pay cashlessly on the app, which makes it really convenient. I arrived around 3:30 PM, but the roadside station's parking lot was full, and the Fairfield side parking was also packed.

The Only Village in Kyoto Prefecture: Minamiyamashiro Village

The tea fields spread out before us, making it a very nature-rich area. The rooms were part of the Marriott chain, so they were reliably clean. However, there aren't many dining options nearby, so it's better to eat dinner somewhere else. Local specialties using 'Muracha' were sold, along with many 'Muracha' products not available at the hotel, at the adjacent roadside station. If you like strong tea, it's definitely worth trying! 😊

お部屋もゆったりと広くベッドがふかふかでよく眠れました♡ソファと冷蔵庫、テーブルもお部屋でくつろぐには便利だった！！お部屋の窓に対して壁いっぱいのカーテンのおかげで暗さがキープできてぐっすり睡眠が取れました♡朝はお茶処らしく霧も出て散歩が気持ちよかったです♪♪ 入口オープンの洗面があるのも便利　ミラーもぐるぐるできて洗面台の机上スペースも広くてシャワーの時にも便利だった！！壁になる仕切りも付いてるのでお友達同士でも安心です。キッチンにはコーヒーとお湯が常備されておりお茶をたくさんいただきました♡ 買ってきたものをお部屋で食べたのでキッチンに置いてあった粉末のお味噌汁がありがたい！！トースター、レンジ、氷も完備で嬉しいですね。ラウンジもローカリティにまつわるアートが配されて見て回るのも面白かった。また別の所に行ったらチェックしたい！！使いやすく快適に広々とデザインされていてすごく好印象でした♪♪ 朝ご飯は隣の道の駅でも茶粥などいただけますが私はお部屋でお茶スイーツトリオ(村ちゃプリン、お茶のどら焼き、塩茶大福)を楽しみました！！

As part of the regional revitalization project “Trip Base Road Station Project,” this hotel is located right next to the tea fields adjacent to the Road Station "Tea Kyoto Minamiyamashiro Village". Since it seems to have just been built, it is very clean from the front desk to the rooms, and it was truly an ideal one-room setup, which made me very happy. The room integrates the water area and the bedroom, but since there is a kind of partition, you can close it to separate the two! Since the goal was to relax, I bought food at the adjacent road station and indulged in matcha, which was a wonderfully luxurious experience. Above all, the hotel staff were extremely kind. They provided sightseeing advice, and even when I forgot something due to my carelessness, they responded very politely.

Next to the hotel, there's a roadside station selling sweets made from the village's special tea.
