Yamatoya Honten is located in the centre of Dogo Onsen, which is said to be Japan's oldest hot springs. Boasting a 250 year long history, Yamatoya offers a contemporary approach to hospitality while preserving historical traditions.
The name "Dogo Onsen" appears in Japan's oldest history record, "Nihon Shoki" (A Chronicle of Japan), making it perhaps the oldest hot spring town in Japan. The Yamatoya Honten was founded in 1868, and is situated right next to the symbol of this hot spring town, the Dogo Onsen Honkan bathhouse. Renovated in 1996, we welcome our guests with a contemporary approach to hospitality while preserving the historical traditions of a Japanese inn (ryokan). ※Reservations can be made up to one day in advance. ※All reservations are without meals.
