I went on a hot spring trip to relieve my daily fatigue early in the spring break. Since it is the only facility with a hot spring attached to the Fairfield, it is possible to move directly to the elevator inside the hotel. Soaking in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves was a blissful moment. Additionally, there was a corner in the common area where coffee, tea, and miso soup were available for free, allowing me to enjoy a café latte while sitting comfortably on the sofa. The bed and pillows were incredibly fluffy and the best! I will definitely repeat this visit. Thank you very much.

Unforgettable Accommodation Experience

This time I stayed for 2 nights, and it was a wonderful experience. First of all, booking through the Hafh platform offered great value for money~ and the hotel service was beyond excellent. They patiently responded to any of our questions and provided assistance. Although the room booked through this platform didn't have an ocean view, we paid an additional 1500 yen to upgrade to a sea view room immediately~ it was fantastic. The hotel's hot spring♨️ was also very comfortable, allowing us to relax and enjoy the ocean view while soaking~ and there weren't many people around! The lobby even had a free coffee machine available for unlimited use (24 hours), and not only tea bags, but they also provided miso soup packs! It's very special~ Although the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, there is a convenience store nearby, so it was very convenient. After this stay, I am determined to stay at all the hotels in the Marriott Group~ I really loved it.

チェックイン時に1500円プラスすると、オーシャンビューの部屋にできます。と案内いただき、変更しました。部屋からの景色は最高で、変更して良かったと思いました^_^ 2歳と0歳の子どもがいるので、ベッドから落ちないようにベッドガードを2つ取り付けてくれ、オムツを捨てるゴミ箱も貸してくれました。部屋にシャワーもありましたが、大浴場を利用しました。地下一階にある大浴場が最高でした。受付でバスタオルの貸し出しがあります。脱衣所は清潔で、狭くないです。女風呂の方はベビーベッドがありました。男風呂はなかったそうです。お風呂は内湯が1つ、外湯が1つと壺湯が3つ。壺湯は源泉掛け流しですが、少々ぬるく、冬の寒い時期には寒く感じました。露天風呂は太平洋を一望でき、とても気持ちが良かったです。夜ご飯は、周辺に食べるところが少なく、少し困りました。道の駅は17時で閉店なので、食料の調達はホテル内の売店の冷食（マルゲリータピザ、キノコのクリームリゾット、カルボナーラ、スープ）か、道の駅内に併設されている食堂（16時まで）か、居酒屋しかありません。今回は、冷食を買い、ロビー横のフリースペースで調理しました。足りなかったので、車を3分走らせるとローソンがあるので、そちらを利用しました。

The Ocean View Open-Air Bath Was Amazing!

I had originally planned to go skiing in Hyogo, but due to heavy snowfall, I changed my plans and went to Wakayama. I made a same-day reservation, and I received a quick reply, and the staff were all kind, making my stay enjoyable. Dinner was stated to be served until 16:00 at the roadside station restaurant, so I thought I might have to go buy something at a convenience store, but perhaps due to the holiday, they were open until 19:00! I was grateful to be able to have warm food! Most seafood options were sold out, so there weren't many choices on the menu, but there were also customers ordering a course? kaiseki meal at reserved tables, so I thought they might prepare something if you make a proper reservation. When I stayed at another Marriott, I was disappointed that there was no tub, but here, I could enjoy the ocean view large public bath without limit, and the facilities were clean even though they were basic, making for a very comfortable stay. The open-air bath's tub was quite lukewarm, but since it would be too hot otherwise, it was just right for my family, and we ended up soaking for a long time. The amaou soft serve I had at the large bath's shop was delicious!! I don't really like 'strawberry flavor,' so I chose vanilla, but I regretted choosing vanilla after tasting amaou (though vanilla is still quite good!) I should have at least gone for a mix...! In the morning, I thoroughly enjoyed the large public bath again, and it was very pleasant!

A Tranquil Inn by the Seaside Rocks

It is a wonderful hotel where you can truly relax and forget your daily routine. The view of the rocky sea from the room was breathtaking, resembling a piece of art. The sea changes its appearance depending on the time of day and the weather, never becoming boring, and especially the sunset viewed from the room was stunningly beautiful. Although this hotel does not include meals, there is a roadside station next door. It is characterized by being able to enjoy meals freely while feeling the charm of the region. The staff members were very kind and warm, providing a healing experience. It's also a nice point that you can choose whether or not to have cleaning during consecutive nights. You can spend a leisurely time in a refined space while feeling the nature of Wakayama. If you visit Wakayama, I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

A Simple Hot Spring Hotel

From Haneda, I took JAL flight 3 to Nanki Shirahama, then took a bus to Shingu and got off at 'Susami Marriott' bus stop. After descending a slightly dark slope, I arrived at the hotel. I was told I could upgrade to an ocean view room for an additional 1500 yen, but I decided against it this time. Even on the opposite side of the sea, the room was spacious and clean. In the shared space on the first floor, coffee, tea, and instant miso soup are available for unlimited consumption. I enjoyed the hot spring in the morning. The view from the seaside is breathtaking. The open-air bath is on the warmer side, so I ended up soaking for a long time. There is no restaurant inside the hotel, but there’s a roadside station next door that serves breakfast from 9:00 to 10:30, where I had a shirasu bowl for 580 yen, which is quite inexpensive.

The 'Fairfield by Marriott Wakayama Kumano Kodo Susami' located in Susami Town, Wakayama Prefecture. It is the only Fairfield hotel in the country with an on-site hot spring facility. In the 'Oumi no Yu' bath, you can hear the sound of the waves while enjoying a panoramic view of the endless sea, allowing you to forget your daily fatigue and refresh yourself. The lounge on the 1st floor has a coffee maker, making it recommended to relax here after your bath. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel, there is a marketplace next to the front desk where you can purchase local foods and drinks, which is fun just to look around♪ The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. The amenities also had a wonderful fragrance!

A Town to Look Forward To! Enjoying Hot Springs and Stunning Views♪

The best part is definitely the underground hot springs! A hot spring with a stunning view is the best. Guests can use it as many times as they like, and since it's within the facility, it's pitch dark at night but you can enjoy the best view in the morning! The source water tub (for one person) is warm, so you can soak for a long time.

I changed my room to one with an ocean view based on their suggestion. Since I checked in before sunset, the view was amazing! The windows in the common area behind the front desk are large, and the view from there is also fantastic! I was considering dinner at the roadside station in Susami, but since I didn't make a reservation, I gave up on that. There are no convenience stores nearby, so in the end, I bought frozen pasta and pizza at the hotel and cooked them in the shared kitchen in the common area to eat. Observing other travelers enjoying their bento and alcohol, I felt like repeat visitors know how to enjoy this hotel, and I thought I should prepare more for next time. The shared kitchen has a microwave and toaster, and coffee, tea, and ice are available for free. The bathhouse operates as a day-use facility, and guests can go directly there via the elevator. The view from the bath was also amazing.

Best Value Stay for Family Trips!

This is our second stay at a Fairfield hotel with a 1-year-old and a 5-year-old, making it a trip of four. The staff at this hotel chain are truly wonderful, making us feel very comfortable. And the hot spring water is wonderfully smooth and the best! In the evening, we enjoyed the sunset from the outdoor baths, and in the morning, the sunrise, which the kids loved as well! We are definitely planning to revisit this hot spring for our next stay^^

It was more comfortable than I had expected, and it doubled my enjoyment of the trip! I would like to share my travel story here. ◆ A moment to soothe the heart in the lounge with a scenic view The view of the sea from the lounge is truly stunning, and spending a leisurely time here during the day makes me feel light and at ease. Moreover, the free drink service, including coffee, tea, and even miso soup, is much appreciated! ◆ A comfortable lounge that enhances work efficiency With reliable Wi-Fi and power outlets, it's perfect for wrapping up a bit of work. Furthermore, the lounge features local crafts and decor, and there are books available to learn about history and culture, making the time spent here very enjoyable. ◆ A luxurious room experience This time, when checking in, I was informed that I could upgrade my room with a local settlement for an additional 1,500 yen. I decided immediately to change to a sea-view room. I was so moved when I opened the curtains in the morning and saw the breathtaking view! I think it's one of the recommended points. The room, as expected from Marriott, had a sense of luxury yet was simple and exceptionally clean. The bottled water and tea provided were delightful services. I could relax on the sofa or do some work at my desk at my own pace. ◆ Ultimate relaxation at "Nozomi no Yu" Further, I was surprised that this hotel is directly connected to the spa "Nozomi no Yu." Normally, you would need to pay 800 yen (tax included) plus a towel fee of 200 yen, but hotel guests can enter for free as many times as they want—what a luxury! I used it three times in total, including once right after check-in while watching the sunset and again before checking out the following morning. This was a fantastic perk for hot spring lovers. ◆ A little pleasant service at the end At Fairfield Hotels, if you fill out a questionnaire, you receive a free service item, and this time I received plum juice. Its refreshing acidity was pleasant and a perfect way to wrap up the trip. Additionally, at check-in, I was given a welcome mandarin orange. I was very excited about this unique Wakayama service. My stay here was so wonderful that I definitely want to repeat it when I visit Wakayama again!

I enjoyed a relaxing "hotel-cation" at a wonderful hotel. The hotel was simple yet stylish and lovely. The hospitality from the staff was amazing. It's truly a Marriott hotel. I booked a mountain-view room with HafH, but on the day of my stay, I could upgrade to a sea-view room for an additional 1500 yen (subject to availability). The sea-view was fantastic, offering a beautiful sunset over the ocean. Furthermore, the hot springs were also very relaxing and wonderful. The water was great, and while the facilities were simple, they were very clean and exceeded my expectations. There was an outdoor bath where I could spend time leisurely. Due to the hotel's concept, there is no restaurant, but the staff recommended the nearby roadside station Susami and local eateries, allowing me to enjoy delicious local cuisine.

A Perfect Stay for Families and Solo Travelers

My family usually stays in Shirahama, but this time we decided to venture a bit further to Susami. The hotel staff were as kind and attentive as rumored, and although the free space was compact, we could relax and enjoy the lovely scenery. The only downside was that there is a hot spring facility in the basement, but you couldn't go there in the loungewear (no kids' sizes) and slippers provided in the room, which was inconvenient as you had to change every time. That said, the presence of free drinks and a toaster allowed us to make toast with the bread we had purchased beforehand, and we were provided with paper plates and spoons, which was helpful. Overall, we had a great time soaking in the hot springs twice, once in the morning and once in the evening, and enjoyed relaxing time as a family.

Family Trip with a 5-year-old and a 1-year-old

We stayed on the day of the typhoon forecast. I was worried as it was close to the sea, but by the evening, the rain had stopped, and my child was able to enjoy the Nozomi no Yu, which they had been looking forward to. For the hot spring, I only brought the face towel that the staff brought to our room after check-in, and since we could get a bath towel at the hot spring reception, my luggage was minimal, and I didn't have to bring wet towels back to the room, which was helpful. The hot spring is located one floor below ground level and has an indoor bath and open-air baths (three tubs that are slightly larger and one-person baths like jar baths). Compared to other hot springs or sento (public bathhouses), the water wasn't too hot, so my daughter, who usually dislikes soaking in hot springs or sento, was happy to get in. After enjoying the hot spring, we had soft serve ice cream from the shop. The premium flavor, which changes by season, was grape. I chose a mix of vanilla and grape, but it was a large soft serve and very satisfying. My husband and our son had grape soft serve, and I felt that just grape had a stronger grape flavor and a juicy texture similar to gelato. The hot spring facility was new, clean, and comfortable. The room was a twin, and since we have small children, they asked if we needed bed guards, which I requested. The bed is high, so I think it's safer to request bed guards for small children. My child has a tendency to toss and turn at night, so while sleeping, he fell over the side of the bed that didn't have the bed guard, climbing over me. There was a little gap on the wall side, so I think I should have guarded it with pillows or blankets. The room was clean and well-maintained, and I was pleasantly surprised that there were two trash bins, one for regular waste and the other for cans, bottles, and pet bottles. At other hotels, there's usually one trash can, so I often have to put empty pet bottles on the table or in a corner (since small children play around, I can't keep them on the floor or within their reach), so having two was very helpful. The room had no bathtub, only a shower booth, but that was not a problem since there was a hot spring downstairs. I think if you are going to make do with only the shower without using the hot spring, having just a shower booth would be easier, as there wouldn't be a space for children to run around. The fridge type did not have a freezer. In front of the lobby counter, there was a shop selling snacks, drinks, and delicious-looking frozen pizzas and pasta. Behind the front desk, there was a free coffee machine and microwave, and some guests used it to heat their food and eat at the large table behind the counter. Since it was spacious and you can throw away trash there, I think it’s a good option to eat there instead of bringing food back to your room.

You can see the lush blue sea of Wakayama from the window of your room. I was able to leisurely enjoy the hotel stay while looking at the sea during the evening and morning hours. In the shared lounge on the first floor, you can also enjoy breathtaking views while holding a free drink. The open-air bath in the large public bath has the best location. It was a wonderful stay where not only the service from the staff but also the view from the hotel made me very satisfied.

After having fun in Nanki Shirahama, I checked in around 9 PM. It was crowded due to the holiday, so I parked at the roadside station next door. The room was spacious and comfortable enough for two people to spread out their belongings. There wasn't a unit bath, just a shower, but it was simple and easy to use. Although I didn't use it this time, there is a large communal bath available for those who want to soak. There is a free drink service in the lounge on the first floor. Coffee was available from a server, and in addition to other standard teas, there was instant miso soup, which I had for breakfast. The staff were busy, yet polite, and it seemed the training had been thorough. If you can check in early, I think it's the perfect location to enjoy the sunset over the sea.

A 2.5-hour train ride from downtown Osaka and I arrived in Kinokuni! The Fairfield Marriott Susami features a strong alkaline hot spring. I visited for a workcation purpose as it was featured at a Phase 2 Huff event in Aoyama. I enjoyed free coffee in the lounge on the first floor, and in the open-air bath in the basement, I could hear the sound of the waves while enjoying a luxurious time looking at the Pacific Ocean from my room window. During check-in, I was informed at the front desk about room upgrades that were mentioned in the story. Originally, the Huff offers mountain view rooms. However, if there are vacancies on the day, it is possible to upgrade for an additional 1500 yen. If you convey your wishes in advance, it could cost the regular price plus 2500 yen. The Pacific view is the same from the open-air bath, but it still feels great!✨🌊✨

A 40-minute train ride from Shirahama. The hotel lounge, which has a wonderful ocean view, was very clean, and our son was immediately intrigued. The room was designed without waste and felt spacious, with thorough cleaning that made it safe for children. The hotel’s hot spring was truly the best, allowing us to take turns and relax together. Although there’s no restaurant, the frozen food menu collaborated with delicious restaurants was surprisingly tasty, showcasing the Marriott brand.

I made my first reservation through HafH and stayed at Fairfield as a base for our trip in the southern Wakayama region. I had stayed at other Fairfields in the past, but since they only had shower booths, I immediately booked when I learned they had onsen facilities. Being able to soak in a hot spring even while traveling is wonderful! I had reserved a room without an ocean view through HafH, but they kindly offered an ocean-view room for an additional charge, which I accepted. This place, located by the sea, has stunning views from the windows. Since I stayed on a Tuesday, the nearby roadside station's dining facilities were closed. The front desk also provides printed information on dining options reachable by car. There is a Lawson convenience store within walking distance, so I purchased various items and brought them in. The hotel also sells light snacks, souvenirs, and drinks, and guests who brought in their own food were cooking in the lounge using the oven toaster or microwave. There’s a coin laundry and vending machines, making for a comfortable stay. The onsen facility "Bokusai no Yu" is open from 6 AM to 10 AM (last entry at 9:30 AM) and from 12 PM to 9 PM (last entry at 8:30 PM). The water quality is alkaline, leaving a nice moisturizing sensation after bathing, and I really liked the onsen here. At the bar counter in the onsen facility, beer, snacks, and soft serve ice cream are sold for a limited time, allowing for a relaxed experience. It’s important to know the emergency exits and evacuation routes in preparation for earthquakes and tsunamis. For Marriott Bonvoy members, there is a never-ending stamp rally called Fairfield Quest, where you collect stamps from 29 locations across the country to earn rewards based on the number of stamps collected. I purchased a stamp book since I plan to stay at Fairfield again in the future, adding another layer of excitement to my HafH travels!

The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable, allowing me to relax. The hotel has a hot spring facility, and the open-air bath with a view of the sea was soothing and healing. There was no restaurant in the hotel, but they kindly introduced nearby dining options, and I chose to eat at the closest roadside station, Susami. They offered enough variety for a satisfying meal. The lounge had free drinks, and I enjoyed sitting on the sofa while sipping my drink and unwinding. The next morning, I was able to enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves, making for a meaningful time spent.
