For those who prefer escalators or elevators, they can use Exit 3, it takes about 3 minutes to walk to the hotel. * Taipei Main Station is approximately a 10-minute walk away from the hotel. * About 15-20 minutes to Taipei Songshan Airport by car. About 50-60 minutes to Taoyuan International Airport Access from the Airport <Access from Taoyuan International Airport> ・Take the Airport MRT (Taoyuan Airport Railway Transport) and get off at the last stop of Taipei Station, and take the express train for about 40 minutes. I stayed at the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel, which is just one MRT line and one station away from Taipei Station. I thought it would be reassuring to choose a hotel with staff who can speak Japanese for my first overseas solo trip, so I made this reservation. In reality, there were about one or two of us traveling alone. It took about 40 minutes to get from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei Station. The underground is complicated and easy to get lost, so I went above ground. It was sunny, and the hotel was just a bit over a 10-minute walk. Even in rain, it’s reachable by transferring from Taipei Station to one station away and getting off at XianDong Temple, then a 2-minute walk to the hotel. First, I checked in. The staff could speak English. I gave my passport and a deposit of 4000 TWD (payment by card was okay). I was given a paper with my room number and a card key. They asked if I needed any amenities since there were none in the room; I only requested a toothbrush. When I stayed (November 2024), breakfast was included. 【Breakfast】 At Kitchen 12, I was shown to my seat after showing my card key and room number paper. They had a variety of dishes like meat buns, noodles, salads, fruits, bread, natto, oatmeal, and many drinks. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at any hotel I’ve stayed at. Initially, I planned to go to "Fu Hang Dou Jiang," which is close to the hotel, but this was sufficient. I wanted to explore early in the morning, but I decided to relax for breakfast here instead. The menu was the same both days, but there were so many options that I didn’t get bored. 【Sightseeing】 In the morning, taxis are always available right in front of the hotel, so I felt safe taking a taxi alone to Dihua Street for 110 TWD (about 600 yen). The half-day tour booked through KKday was departing from this hotel, so I thought it was convenient, which is why I chose this hotel. I could drop my shopping bags off in my room before going out, which was very convenient. There’s also a bus stop right in front of the hotel. However, the bus rarely runs on time, so the subway is more convenient. 【Room】 I was on the 10th floor, close to the elevator, and everything was almost perfect except for the view. The toilet, washbasin, and bathroom were spacious and luxurious, and I was very satisfied! The water pressure was fine as well. I stayed for two nights, and my room was cleaned in the morning. There were simple slippers, a bathrobe, bath towels, face towels, hand towels, a hairdryer, an iron, and an ironing board provided. The refrigerator had drinks for purchase. Since I stayed for two nights, I was provided with a bottle of water for each day. The dehumidifying air conditioning worked well, and it was comfortable. Wi-Fi was also easily accessible. 【Large Bath】 Unfortunately, I couldn’t use the large bath as I returned to the hotel around 10 PM after my Jiufen tour and night market adventures both days. It ends around 10 or 10:30 PM. I believe it was available from 7 AM to 9:30 AM. 【Check-out】 12:00 PM. I think it would be fine to check out after coming back from the morning market. If I hadn’t used the room’s drinks, I just had to hand over the key for immediate checkout. After checkout, they stored my luggage as well. They asked when I'd be back to pick it up, and I was given a paper ticket for the pickup which I handed over when collecting my bags. I would like to stay at this hotel again if I have another opportunity to visit Taiwan.
