Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi boasts an incredible location. It’s just a short walk to Pontocho Street, Kiyamachi Street, and the Gion district, making it the perfect base for Kyoto sightseeing! There are plenty of shops around, so you won't have any trouble finding places to eat or shop. The rooms are designed to be simple and modern, providing a relaxing space. They are also very clean, making for a pleasant stay! Since there’s no desk for computer work, it’s best suited for those solely focused on sightseeing and dining. I did my computer work at a café nearby 💻, which I also recommend sharing below.

【Location】 5 minutes walk from Kyoto Kawaramachi! Both Kyoto City Hall Station and Sanjo Station are also conveniently located about 5-7 minutes on foot. The bus stop (Kawaramachi Sanjo) is also just 1-3 minutes away on foot, making it easy to explore by various means. The Kamo River is also within walking distance. 【Entrance】 It's located behind Kamakura Pasta. 【Reception】 You can leave your luggage even after check-in/check-out. I arranged to have my luggage sent to the hotel before check-in, and the reception was smooth. 【Room】 The bed was large and comfortable. It was spacious enough for two people (!). Unfortunately, this room only allows single occupancy through HafH. This room lacked a table and chairs, so it may not be suitable for hotel workations. (The Wi-Fi was a bit unstable depending on the room. It’s fine for work, but may cause some stress for online meetings.) The other type of room looked like it had tables and chairs, so I’d like to stay there next time. The bathtub was deep, so I could enjoy a nice, long soak. Since there were many drinking parties, I really appreciated having plenty of deodorizing sprays and hangers!

It's in an area filled with stylish select shops and izakayas. I recommend it to those who want to enjoy a night in Kyoto without worrying about the last train.

It's a hotel perfectly located in the bustling center of Kyoto, facing Kawaramachi Street, with excellent access to the Kamo River. The room has space to open and place a suitcase, so it can be left open during the stay, which is very convenient. The standard queen bed is spacious enough, allowing for a relaxing night's sleep. Since I arrived early, I dropped off my luggage and set out immediately to have lunch in the nearby bustling area.

I booked this place to participate in HafH’s event. I thought it would be good to have easy access to Shijo and Kawaramachi, which have many shops, so I made the reservation. There are restaurants, bars, and riverside walks within walking distance, making it easy to explore, and the subway is very accessible—you’ll be fully satisfied. The station is also nearby. If I had to point out something, it's that the exit is not very noticeable at first glance, and I passed it by. There is a sign, but if you're distracted by the streets, you might miss it, so be careful. The bed was very spacious, and both the bath and shower were clean and more than satisfactory! I’m not a shower person, so having a bathtub is important to me. Next time I visit Kyoto, I would like to consider this place again!

I stayed for two nights at Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi during the Kyoto Travel Week! 💮Hotel Accessibility Only a 3-minute walk from Hankyu "Kyoto Kawaramachi" station and a 5-minute walk from the Kyoto City Hall Station on the Tozai Line, making it very convenient to access major transportation. Moreover, being right on Shijo Street, there are great commercial facilities like Kyoto BAL nearby, perfect for enjoying meals. ⚪Room Size Single rooms are about 13㎡, double rooms are about 15㎡ in size. Queen-sized beds are mostly arranged! Personally, I really liked that there was enough space to open my suitcase under the TV 🙆 ⚪Hotel Facilities The hotel has a coin laundry and gym, making it suitable for long stays and maintaining health. The lobby has a calming atmosphere with a Japanese garden view, providing a serene space. With great location and comfortable beds, it’s perfect for a Kyoto stay!

It took about 5 minutes to walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station. The location is convenient with many convenience stores, cafes, and restaurants nearby. Although the bathtub is small, it is deep enough to soak up to my shoulders. As shown in the picture, I can’t help but be curious about what the hairdryer in the room is　lol. There are no pajamas prepared in the room, so please let the front desk know if you need them. They had easy-to-wear separate top and bottom pajamas. Since the hotel opened in March 2023, it is relatively new, making the rooms feel clean and fresh. However, there are no chairs, which makes it unsuitable for working; for those who prefer to explore rather than relax in the hotel, I recommend it as a base for sightseeing!

I stayed to visit the exhibitions of the KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photo Festival 2024. It was easy to access by train or bus. There were many foreigners staying as well. There is a retro coffee shop nearby featuring beautiful cobalt blue tiles.

I stayed on a weekend right in the middle of the autumn leaves season. While hotel prices were soaring, I was able to book a good deal through Hafu. The room was spacious enough to open a suitcase. The interior was very clean. Since I was in Kyoto, most of the guests were foreigners.

A Reasonably Priced and Clean Hotel Suitable for Sightseeing Along the Kamo River

It is close if you go from 'Sanjo Station' or 'Keihan Sanjo Station' or 'Gion Shijo Station'. Be careful as it is far from the similar station 'Shijo Station'. Although it is not related to the hotel, Karasuma Station and Karasuma Oike Station are different stations. This hotel has good access to the atmospheric 'Pontocho Alley' along the Kamo River and the lively 'Kiyamachi Street'. It is also easy to go to Yasaka Shrine across the Kamo River. The downside of this hotel is that there is no smoking space. If you want to smoke, you have to walk about 5 minutes outside to the smoking area in the shopping district. In Kyoto, even if you carry a portable ashtray, you can be fined for smoking outside, so the smoking area is important for smokers. Also, it is difficult to work in the room. The reason is that there is no desk; there is a low table, but there are several long silver bars attached as decorations on the plate, making it impossible to place paper or use a laptop due to tilting. There is storage under the shelf, so you cannot fit your legs in either. If you want to work, you have to do so in a café outside.
